STORMY DAY WIP FAIRY

Central Florida
the last three days have been stormy
I've watched the retention pond grow into a lake
I knew it was bad when the water birds
appeared

But the yard flooded
and the earth took a deep drink

and I saw faeries
in tiny boats

MORE WIP AND SANDING

She sits
been working on another fairy doll
a little bigger
bigger feet
still sanding
it is never ending, but very enjoyable
LOL

replaced her elbow joints with beads
like it better
found some great fabrics for her
fins and flooks

the possibilities of the Mermaid tail
make for endless combinations

already carved the base for the next one
clay seems to be easier on my hands
they don't hurt
my soft sculptured days
are becoming numbered
as I'm finding clay more interesting to use!

MOUSEFEATHER A COLLECTION OF CLAY BJDS

Last year I tried to start a collection of clay ball jointed dolls
I called
Mousefeather
I created a few dolls
but became frustrated with my lack of knowledge
of how to create the movable parts

I felt the dolls were cute but not what I envisioned
Not ready to give up
I found an amazing artist on Flickr
Marina

Marina creates the most wonderful clay BJDs
check out her sites

Marina gave me tips, answered my questions
and become a wonderful friend

Butterscotch was born
the fairy I always dreamed of making

created from Japanese Paper Clay
with 19 articulated parts
removable clothing
and now in my shop

A FAERIE NAMED BUTTERSCOTCH

It is finally starting to feel like I know what I'm doing
YAY
after more than 30 plus clay dolls
I actually believe this collection of
Ball Jointed Dolls
will make it into my shop

Sculpt #3
has a name
Butterscotch

I'm so enjoying the process of creating articulated
dolls
and with the waiting time of air-dry clays
I still have time for soft sculpture dolls
too

Butterscotch is waiting for the rest of her outfit
which will be removable
because faeries like to dance naked
in the Moonlight!

STEAMPUNK SPRITES

Waiting for the boats to dock
at one of the many launch sites in Central Florida
I noticed the old Steam Engine
a ghostly relic of the past

As I circled the lonely Metal Beast
Blue Sprites
Fluttered about

Moved here to rest
this old engine pulled many tons of oranges to the North

along with the large Summer bugs
it looked like these Sprites
had made themselves a home

Appropriately dresses in SteamPunk
attire

I watched for awhile
a beautiful peaceful place

I FEEL LIKE FRANKENSTEIN

With the light of the big
bright Moon
beaming into my studio
Sculpt #3
was born

all her strings are still hanging

I kinda felt like Dr. Frankenstein
stringing her parts together

she moves well, I learned a lot
and I'm glad the hard part is finished

beautiful pale long hair
wings and a fairy dress
the easy part

now she joins Mousefeather and Pinkie
#1 & #2
and I'll have to name her something other than
#3
