The Idex was spectacular, met up with all my dollie

EARL THE ORANGE STEALER

I live off the back of a farm

an old orange grove, now no longer worked because of too many freezes

The cows roam freely

and eat whatever oranges they can reach off the trees

most only have some fruit at the top

but up near the fence one lone orange tree

was loaded with fruit

this big male cow crashed the fence and had a banquet

I yelled out to my husband

"Honey" there is a cow in the yard!

so off I went to find the farmer to corral his cow

with a little coaxing Earl got back on the right side of the fence

and the fence post was fixed

I guess it was yummy he cleaned off the tree

Pretty exciting stuff for a city girl like me

all these photos were taken with a zoom, no way was I getting that close to

Another freezing night in Florida

brought more faeries to the

Inn on the Grove

to escape the frost and be cozy and warm

until the morning sunshine

beamed across the farmland

a tiny glowing Princess got comfortable on the velvet couch

while an Elfin Fae, waited to present her with a basket of

sweet wild flowers

on the upstairs balcony

birds tweeted a morning song

faeries wiped away the sleep and emerged into the warm sun

DOLL DREAMS

As a Artist I often dream of Art Work before I create it

but I have not had a dream of dolls in a long time

Before dawn I awoke and started drawing

and cutting and sewing

I was obsessed!

For months I have tried to stay away from Soft Sculpture

almost 40 years of this kind of art has taken a toll on my hands.

But I am having a hard time putting down the needle

I dreamed of a soft rag doll, almost completely sewed on the machine

the stuffing is very soft and almost floppy

and this is what happened

a sweet little fairy

with a cartooned face

best part my hands don't hurt!

She reminds me of the rag dolls I had as a child

always my favorites

they could be hugged,

carried around,

taken to bed to hear stories

and they would not break

a touchable little fairy doll

that a child could play with

created from fuzzy PJ knit

with cotton fairy frost wings

fat yarn hair

and a removable dress

because faeries like to dance

naked!

Over the Holidays

I finished

fairy-izing my little doll house

the outside is just the way I envisioned it

moss and ivy

Daisy the Field Troll sit up top

and the Dragon guards the other

peak

actually it keeps my monkey cats from

climbing on the roof

all the little soft fairies on the outside

and the Forest Witch

Glennlinda caught a naughty Sprite

on his way to the Inn to cause trouble

a twig tower, where a nest keeper

watches over new eggs

Elfin faeries just had to check out the fairy doll house

the size was perfect!

So far

the doll house has all of it's inside furniture,

still working on moss and ivy

on the walls and floors

the bathroom has a antique petal bowl

for a bath tub

the word is spreading

and soon more faeries will appear in the house

As I move closer to the end of the year

my Art and doll-making has taken a new direction.

Packed away all my soft sculpture and fiber work, never thought that would happen,

working in clay gives my dolls such dimension, and character.

I have truly become obsessed with creating

ball jointed dolls

this past year I found it harder and harder to complete soft dolls

so I've decided to work in clay

in 2012

these tiny faeries have taken over

quick to make and fast to dry

I will have a Studio filled with tiny faeries

before the end of the year!

Soon I'll start mold making and casting

MERMAIDS OF SANIBEL ISLAND

After a long road trip

it felt good to stretch my legs

a walk down the dock

and a look at the busy

harbor

no Mermaids to be seen

On the other side

I found a green bridge

that lead to a magical stream

it creaked as I walked

the water was usual colors of green and yellow

But then I saw them

swimming among the lacy roots

where I was searching for

I recently received my first Blythe Doll

all this Blythe craziness came on rather suddenly

But she is really cute

and I have never had a doll quite like her

it all started with these tiny girls

I got one, and then I kept getting more

I'm fascinated by this Blythe doll

My dollhouse is haunted

that is the best excuse I can come up with,

not to even open her up in a year and a half.

But today I dragged her out of her dark corner

and into the light

Gone are the Attic Ghosts and dollies that inhabited her

China Siamese Kitties have seemed to taken over

the place

I opened up all the doors, she still smells of my Grandfather's

pipe smoke

I positioned all the little furniture of my childhood

straightened up all the rooms

tried out my new dollies

from my friend

Marina

set up all my tea sets

just in case

some Ghosts come to visit

lonely mewing in the hallways

and a empty attic space

playing in my house

mixing large scale pieces with the small

since this House was built by my Great Grandfather a Sea Captain

I'm sure he was drinking while working on her, and it is a good chance it wasn't tea!

the scale is off everywhere in the House

which I find endearing

New Attic Ghosts soon will be drifting about my House

in the mean time making a list of dollhouse projects

time to get back to work on her

soon as the weather cools down, sanding all the floors!

Summer time Mermaids

found my stash of goodies from the Bahamas

shells and hand-dyed batiks

and wonderful memories of sailing the

Bahamas

might be time to head East

and stick my toes in the sand and warm blue water

Spend a day watching the kite-surfers

building sand castles

Summer will soon be over

is finally finished

she is my ninth

ball jointed doll

For awhile I thought she would never have a beautiful gown

until I visited the Mill House in Juniper Springs

this 1930's magical house

inspired a Faerie Creation

a gown that begged to be worn by a red-headed Faerie

lounging in my studio

Devon will reside as part of my private

collection

after seeing pictures of the Chanel Soho

window displays in New York

This LiL Coco is smaller 14 inches

with a Karey logo painted face

with all the glitter trims

Meet Jane

Jane has a special suitcase

where she keeps all her favorite

treasures

Jane is always thinking about Mermaids

But today she is having a little Tea party

with her friend

a quick nap before all the festivities

Jane dreams she is sailing the sparkling ocean

dressed in her beautiful Mermaid gown

while sailing she sees a Mermaid

and then another

come swim with us

Jane could feel the velvet cool water

she awoke from her dream

and saw a crown

what a magical dream

Later she enjoyed Tea with her friend

they exchanged stories of Mermaids and Faeries

and a magical crown

that the mermaids had given her

Mad crazy dreams often come true

A softer sculpted doll

new fairy pattern

At the beginning I always used this

fuzzy soft viscose fabric

easy on the hands

so glad I purchased boxes of it

not ready to give up my soft little faeries

Just making them softer more rag doll like

with smuggie faces

leaving all the detail to the clay dolls

feeling like I've come full circle in doll making

old hands feeling OK
