FABRIC IS MY FRIEND
as much as I try to get away from fabric
cloth is always lurking around in my head
using fabrics in combination with ball jointed dolls
great way to use all the amazing quilting quarters I have collected
and I love the way soft tails move
these two a new work in process
paper clay torso head and arms ball jointed
tails are cotton, stuffed and
tiny pellets in the tails
movement of these girls is amazing!

STRINGING A PRIMITIVE DOLL
I received a e-mail from a follower of my art dolls
asking if I had a tutorial of stringing a doll
I don't, and teaching is not something I do very well
But I took some pictures of the process of stringing one of my
primitive ball jointed dolls
I start by making my hooks, and lying the doll out to be strung
also, I never string my work until it is finished
(but that is just me)
all the fitting is done before I paint
using elastic beading cord and a long piece of wire
this is my process
my dolls are made from Japanese Paper Clay
sanded, painted with acrylic paints
and sealed with matte spray
Stringing is my favorite part of creating a doll
she comes to life
