LEARNING PATIENCE AND THE ORIGINAL DOLL

As I embark on a new art form
I'm learning to slow down
take the time
porcelain is one of these art forms that can't be done quickly
seems I'm always waiting for the slip to set
removing the piece from the mold
cleaning
the kiln time
it can be as boring as watching paint dry!
so to get myself to take the time
sewing will fill up the minutes
and
soft sculpture has returned to my life
taking a long break from my love of fiber art
has not only been healing for my hands
but now has become exciting again
the last few days, new patterns have been made
and
The Original Kaerie Faerie Doll
was born
a long wispy jointed fairy
needle sculpted
look for these dolls in my shop
soon

A DECISION IS MADE

After months of back and forth
I've decided to get a kiln
and translate my primitive dolls into
porcelain

Now I have to decide what kind to purchase
in the meantime
working on cores for paper clay dolls
that will be used for molds
cooler weather in Florida
time to make plaster molds
