they help her balance on lilypads

very helpful when you are a water fairy

THE MERMAIDS OF SILVER SPRINGS

Silver Springs Florida

known for glass bottom boat rides 

and the Creature from the Black Lagoon

but among the beautiful lilies

swim pretty Mermaids 

at least that is what I saw on my recent visit

been awhile since I created soft sculpture dolls

but I felt a need to express myself in cloth

these two are in my shop

while in my studio I noticed a 

very long rat snake

looked like it was dancing around the farm post

NEW DOLL MOLD FINISHED

setting up my fairy sculpture

4 days and the result is good

few bubbles and chips

the sculpture was soggy due to a coating of lacquer, or perhaps 

Florida humidity 

experimenting with different sealers

 will be going back to enamels, they protect better on paper clay

I toss out all my sculptures once they have be made into molds

the sculpture is never usable again

 for the last 5 years I have made many molds

this is number 10 that will be hopefully usable

part of the porcelain process creating molds

I like to have lots of dolls to cast

now Titania dries for a month

another exciting aspect of creating in 

porcelain

After weeks of cleaning

bisque dolls ready to fire

after porcelain fire

soaking in clean cool water

3 new sculpts faeries

these will be used for new molds

these girls get a scrub

and dry

this cartoonie fairy moves really well

and will be great in porcelain

also 20% smaller

still cleaning 6 porcelain dolls

thinking about taking my Royal deer Arwen

apart and using her in a mold
