TIME TO LEAVE THE NEST

Lots of whispering
Faeries love to whisper secrets, I can tell my Fairy Children are restless
They whisper of great adventures and new places
I can always tell when it is time,
for my beautiful children to leave!

Over the past year, as I've created the 12 inch soft doll, and stocked my shop
I often experiment with larger sizes 19 to 22 inches

I find it easier to wire fingers and ears

try out painted and dying techniques
elaborate wings

fabulous crowns

and felting and free motion stitching

working with beads and making flowers and rosettes

I have often called these lovely ladies
My Private Collection

Now it is time for them to leave the nest
Like any good Fairy Mother
I shed a tear and say goodbye
and send them off to great adventures
These Art Dolls were truly made with love!

over the next few weeks I will be posting
20 large soft sculpture dolls
these 5 are in my shop

IN SEARCH OF THE LADIES OF THE LAKE

Winter in Central Florida
a recent frost left the landscape brown and crispy
not a problem for us humans, we just don several hoodies and soxs instead of mittens
but for the tropical creatures, the unusual cold snap is very hard

when the temps creeped back up to lovely 70's
I decided to get out and look for the Ladies of the Lake

I boarded the neighborhood Paddlewheel for a afternoon tour of the River and Lakes

The Lady Gayle, one of the many steam ships at the dock

the shore line was very brown, with one lone Great Blue Heron

But the sun came out as we neared Spanish Springs

and I saw a group of Ladies

Sunning themselves on a wall

Dragon fly Merfaeries

Sing lullabyes to all the napping fish

lounging and preening
it was good to see these beautiful Ladies
Singing the Alligators to sleep

DOLL HOUSE STORIES GHOSTS IN THE ATTIC

I decided to start with the roof and outside of the house
I was dusting and replacing cardboard shingles

with my feather duster I swept the attic
this house has a distinct smell of cigar and pipe smoke

I was breathing in the fumes of my Grandfather's cigars, when I heard
sneezing!

this ghostly little spirit floated out and perched on the edge of the roof

and another appeared on the other dormer,
pouting and scowling, these were very unhappy spirits

Seems all the dusting and removing of furniture was causing much sadness
and believe me, there is nothing worse than mad, unhappy spirits in your house!
I decided gifts would help this situation
a basket of tiny mouse pets

I gathered some furniture to put in the attic space

These pouting girls, snuggled into their new surroundings

ragged overstuffed chairs and a cozy fireplace

story books to read

dress forms to make spooky dresses

the ghosts, in the attic of the doll house seemed happy now

and I could get back to painting the roof

MY DOLL HOUSE

I have a wonderful doll house
this is me when I was 13, still playing with dolls
Over the years I have dusted her off, covered her with a antique silk shawl
But I have never had time too play with her until now!
This is my New Year Resolution for 2010
renovate my beloved Doll House

I keep the letter from my Mother in the Attic
This was my Mother's doll house, it was made for her
Some time ago it was passed down to me
Like family jewels, only better!

My Great Grandfather built this house for my Mom, it is kind of a replica of the Home Mother lived in Old Hickory Tenn.
it took years to finish, and he only worked on it when he came to visit

I am a member of ADO, this past year I've started a little collection of dolls
from these fantastic Art Doll Artists
as with most collections, they need a place to call home
a shelf, a cupboard, or a wonderful Doll House
We all sat in my studio discussing this matter
appropriate living space

a nice little bedroom,
this house has four bedrooms and a attic space
for ghosts

the staircase, made with lolli-pop sticks

formal living room with fireplace, a place to read, write, and play a piano

this house was fully loaded, I've stripped it down, lovingly packed everything away

Back of the house, kitchen, bedrooms, and a great little closet
under the stairs for my purple monster

The lights in the house still all work
With a little sand paper, and paint
she will be fixed up, and I will finally have the time to play in this
Magical House
I will be blogging my progress of My Doll House

ROARING 20'S DANCE PARTY

Tonight I sit quietly in my studio, manning the dispatch phone. I guess you could say I'm working!
But it is peaceful, and a large blue moon rises in the sky
Kind of cool for Florida, gator hunters won't be out tonight, I hear a distant snap of fireworks, some where from the country side

But the peacefulness did not last, for tonight is New Year's Eve in Twigs Faerie Land

I hear loud music coming from the terrace

I grab my boa of white feathers and head out, just in time to see a burst of light
some of the girls have got a little dance party going on

It is a Roaring Twenties Charleston Party

Schooga, Schooga

and a Wackadoo

A little dancing

To ring in the New Year

Well, I see it is a fabulous Party
The Pink Champagne Mermaids have arrived
