GWENDOLYN A YOUNG GARGOYLE

Down at the end of my street is a large swampy marsh,
where all the creepy creatures live, snakes, toads, and alligators
During dry season they will wander up the road
Because of the large snake population in my back yard, I prefer not to do much gardening

I keep my yard sort of rural, and have a few pretty fairy statues

Recently, this little Gargoyle has decided to add moss to my fairy bird bath and make a nest

She has made herself at home, and has been eating all the butterflies she can catch

I named her Gwendolyn, a great aristocratic name, for a Gargoyle, who should be on her way to the big city to find a proper roof perch

Not eating all the beautifly butterflies in my yard!

So, I think I came up with a plan, to get this little Gargoyle to move on

Miss V, at A Fanciful Twist is having a Halloween Party
So, I will also throw a Halloween Harvest Ball, and invite all the creatures from the State Theater

What a wonderful idea,
Gwendolyn will make some friends and move over to the grand roof of the Historic State Theater, and butterflies will flutter safely around my yard
I must be off to make some dramatic invitations!

HISTORIC STATE THEATRE

I moved to Central Florida a few years ago to escape the hurricanes and yearning for a quiet place to live, away from the heat and excitement of Miami.
Settling outside the small city of Eustis, surrounded by lakes and farm country, this quaint little town looked like a scene from a episode of Mayberry

The Heart of this little town is the 1922 Historic State Theatre, beautifully renovated, I was pulled in to investigate.

I found the Bay Street Players, this amazing group of community artists, gave me a second home, and friendships, and inspiration to create costumes

I worked here as often as possible, actually I played here, sewing, designing, and helping out wherever I could.
Here in the darken theater I found peace and tranquility, and the tight excitement of making costumes in a deadline
Watching the sets grow from scraps of wood
stocking the dressing rooms

Up the staircase to the second floor
to the sewing room, prop room, and many rooms filled with costumes

For a girls who loves to play dress-up, this is fantasy land
each room holds treasures from plays, over the years

From the Costumers to the Cast, and especially the Artistic Director David Clevinger
I have always felt at home when I walk through the doors

WIND SYLPHS

September slipped in this morning with the winds of change. It may be the middle of rainy season here in Florida, but the Fall is my favorite time of year, this is the time, when I become homesick for my old friend Chicago. I know that Fall and Winter in Florida is glorious, but, I miss the maple trees dressed in all the wonderful colors, orange and gold, and everywhere you look a yellow glow!
Feeling a little sad, I opened the door to get the morning news, and a big basket filled with colorful leaves waited for me! One of my friends from the North had sent me FALL
I brought the basket into my Studio, and out popped two Wind Sylphs
"SURPRISE"

I haven't seen any Sylphs in a very long time. Northern Creatures, a Sylph is an imaginary being inhabiting the air

I would see Wind Sylphs up North in the Fall, ride gently down to the ground on leaves

Also, in the Winter when it snows, but since the trees are green all the time in Florida, I have never seen any of these slender graceful creatures.

I suppose these two hid in the leaves for a trip and new adventure in Florida
Since they cannot live with me, I took them to a island off the Lake

I found them a wonderful tree home, they bounded from the basket and excitedly started exploring!
I'll be back soon to visit

My Fall Collection of Dolls will be in my Etsy Shop later this month

FAERIE BABIES

August, hot sultry days that melt into each other, at the end of every day, storms light up the sky and rumble the house, pineapple juice is what the islanders call the rain. It cools the air and comforts you in the evening.

In the morning I retrieve the paper and breathe in the heat, while having my tea, I got a call from my friend, hurry over the Fairy Babies are back in the yard!
I grabbed my favorite book and straw hat and went over to see

With all the rain, comes beautiful gardens, my friend has a lovely garden

the Faerie Babies have been playing and napping in her yard

she even set out a doll bed all in pink

the Baby Fairies bounced on the bed and rocked in the little chair

I crawled under the tree and started to read Peter Pan

At first the Babies were shy, then the Baby Bee moved closer,
Baby Flower laid back and watched butterflies, and Baby Tiger purred but kept her distance

Reading in the Summer heat always puts me to sleep

But Bee, Flower, and Tiger, tumbled into the yard and played around the mushrooms

These Faerie Babies are now in my Etsy Shop

WISHING ON A STAR

Several nights ago, Central Florida hosted a meteor shower on the grandest scale
Appearing late at night, I knew I would have to see it!
As a perpetual night wanderer, being awake in the wee hours would not be a problem, I often think I must have been a ghostly spirit in another life.
I wandered out into the yard, the farm in back was pitch black, I looked up and saw stars streaming across the night sky.
Tonight I could make as many wishes as I could come up with,
it was a magical experience!
Later that afternoon I visited the Wishing Well, to see if it was full of sparkly wishes
I was greeted by the Wishing Well Fairies

These wispy little ladies, keep count of the wishes in the well
I walked around the back side of the well, and spotted a Wish Catcher, she had a busy night catching wishes in her large hands
and there was another pretty fairy, putting wishes in the well, gauntlets covered her hands
reminded me of a baseball player
They all were finishing up a busy night, and fluttered over to enormous Tree with a very large hole, it was the door to their home

Come in and have a spot of tea

The best I could do was sit close to the door, for this human is much to large to enter the Fairy Tree House

I hope you made a wish
I made lots!!

These two Wish Catchers & two Wishing Well Faeries
are now in my Etsy shop
